Jennifer Cheung returned to school to pursue her master’s degree in Applied Mathematics at the San Diego State University 16 years after she took her first calculus class in College. She is a mathematician who became a Cybersecurity Engineer and has been working in the cybersecurity field since August 2014. She was awarded a Fulbright grant to study Quantum Cryptography in Denmark during the academic year of 2011-2012. She currently works as a research scientist for the NIWC Pacific.
She currently holds the position of President of the WiCyS (Women In Cybersecurity) San Diego Affiliate. Her involvement with the San Diego County Engineering Council (SDCEC) gives her an opportunity to promote cybersecurity as an engineering field among other engineering principles. She has been outspoken on building a more diverse and inclusive cybersecurity workforce of the future, encouraging and helping women to break into the field.
