emerging leaders
For the under 40 crowd involved in government technology

San Diego Emerging Leaders is a sub-group of the award winning San Diego Chapter of AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association). We provide a casual environment for individuals under 40 involved in government technology to engage professionally, exchange ideas, give back to the community, and—most importantly—have fun.
Towards our mission of shared goal achievement, the Emerging Leaders organization is built around three tenants:
Professional Development
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT events provide an informal environment for both government and industry to build their skills. The Emerging Leaders engage with highly regarded, senior professionals who are looking to share their knowledge and experience with developing professionals. Each of these sessions is conducted outside of the confines of the typical work environment, encouraging honest and open discussion from Industry, Academia, and Government.
Community Outreach
COMMUNITY OUTREACH benefits the community and strengthens the overall Emerging Leaders organization. The Emerging Leaders are primarily focused on supporting Science, Technology Engineering, and Math (STEM) events at local high schools and universities. Our work promoting government careers and degrees in technical areas provides value to the community, our industry, and our organization.
Social Events
SOCIAL EVENTS are a fun way for government, academia, and industry to engage socially and build relationships. The Emerging Leaders organize events such as happy hours, outings to local athletic events, as well as other exciting activities like go kart racing. These events are a great way to get to know San Diego’s up-and-comers. But, primarily, our social events are very FUN!!!
