AFCEA-SD is a major participant at the local Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair (GSDSEF) held annually.
In the Middle School category, we select 10 students as finalists who receive a one year family membership to the Aerospace museum and exhibit their projects at both the C4I symposium and a special recognition reception.
At the reception, awardees also make a five minute presentation on their project to invited judges and the audience (parents, teachers, friends).
At least one student is selected as the grand prize winner to receive a one week all expense paid trip to the NASA space camp in Alabama. In the High School category, we select at least 4 finalists to present their projects at the C4I symposium and are given awards of $750 each. Also, one grand prize winner is selected and given an additional award of $2,000.
Two students were selected as the grand prize winners to receive a one week all-expense paid trip to the NASA space camp in Huntsville, AL in the Junior Division at the San Diego County Science and Engineering Fair. Additionally, four students in the Senior Division received a $750 cash prize.
