AVID Scholarship Program
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the achievement gap by preparing their students for college and other postsecondary opportunities, especially first-generation college students. To be eligible for the $2,000 AVID AFCEA scholarship, high school seniors must apply for an AVID scholarship through the AVID Center, have a minimum grade point average of 3.5, have participated in an AVID program for three or four years, accepted to a college or university, have a demonstrated financial need, and be majoring in a STEM field. Candidates must be residents of San Diego County, majoring in science, technology, math, or engineering. Besides completing the application, candidates must write two essays and submit a letter of recommendation from the school of attendance.
Completed application packets are sent via the AVID Center to the AFCEA Scholarship Committee for final selection. Selections and notifications will be made by July 15, 2025. Checks will be distributed by August 12, 2025.
